RYAN, Ruth
Pictou
RYAN, Mary Ruth Helen (SMITH). It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow we announce that our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother passed away on December 16, 2024. She died peacefully with family by her side. She will be greatly missed by all. Born in Duvar, PEI, on October 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Bernice (Wedge) and Andrew Pineau. Our mother was owner and operator of Smith’s Lunch and was well known for her delicious meals of fried chicken, chicken burgers and many homemade pies. Mom is survived by six children, Patsy (Robert), Bert (Maureen), Bill, Helen, Louis, Debbie (Billy) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda (George) MacPhail, Elmsdale; and Claire (Dorothy) Pineau, Ontario. She was predeceased by her daughter, Julia and her son-in-law, Stephen Moriarity. Mom enjoyed her time at the Oddfellows and called it her home. Special thanks to all who cared so dearly for her. She loved visits from her family, friends and especially the four legged furry ones. Mom loved to knit and many enjoyed her homemade dish cloths. Her remains will rest at McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, with visitation from 2-4 PM Thursday December 19. Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Friday December 20 in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Special thank you to Jeannie and Dawn for sharing their special talent, Mom loved their singing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oddfellows Nursing Home Activities Fund or to Stella Maris Church. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
