Most sincere condolences to the MacLean family as they celebrate the life of their sweet matriarch, Lois. I was hoping to be able to join you for the service today, but the weather has intervened. "Loey" was one of my "other" mothers, when I first worked for them cleaning strawberry plants in the barn in the early spring at the age of 9 or 10. After lunch, my job was to brush Lois' hair, while she and her best bud Ethel, would laugh and regale us with stories, and make Lloyd blush. I have good memories of many hot summer days picking berries, with everyone pulling their weight, and lots of laughter. Although I haven't been back to Durham much in recent years, I do remember her fondly. She was one of my favourite people. Rest in peace, Lois. Bless you all. Hugs!
Sincerely, Sheila (MacFarlane) Livingston

On the past two Sundays at my congregation in Toronto, Lois’s oatcakes were a topic of conversation and much love. She will be remembered with each oatcake forevermore in my world but for so much more. Her smile radiates from above now! God be with you all in this time of sadness! May your love hold you up as you mourn. Love to all, Angela J. Cluney

I'd like to offer condolences to my MacLean relatives. I have a lot of great memories of Aunt Lois. She was always so very kind and loved to laugh. She also gave great hugs! Her life was full of love, laughter and music. Her hard work and dedication to her family, church and community will always be remembered. I feel very fortunate to have had her in my life. Three things that she taught me: 1. What you don't do, you can't do. 2. Take people as you find them. 3. Take time to stop and smell the roses. Or hold the new baby. Or sit on the verandah and listen to the rain.
