UNDERWOOD, G.E. “Eddie” Pictou UNDERWOOD, George Edwin “Eddie” -75, of Pictou died on January 16, 2020. Born in Westville, he was predeceased by his dad, Leonard and mom, Eileen (Hurbert) Underwood. He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Poirier) Joudrie Underwood; sons, “Jimmie” (Julie), Michael; daughters, Lisa (Shaun), Jenifer (David); stepchildren, Calvin (Heather), Kelly (Carla), Trina (David), Lee, Glen (Jenny) and Bevin (Tatum); grandchildren, Ben (Audrey), Kailee (Pearse), Cory, Brea, Charley, Jordan U, Cale, Noah, Peyton, Dylan, Cole, Myla, Jorden M, Ty, Josh, Matthew, Christian, Will, Blair, Kate, Dan and Ella; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Owen and Austin, his siblings, Bill (Donna), Marilyn (Vernon) and Joe (Joan). Eddie was loving, hard-working, kind hearted with great interests for others (family and community). He believed in helping those in need. He had passion for the underdog and gave generously to those who needed it most. He worked hard and had a keen understanding of business and was a unique entrepreneur. He and his brother Joe spent years servicing Pictou area automotive and home heating needs. They were partners in business but share many more interests (racing, cars, community). Eddie definitely had a passion for cars and driving. Nothing thrilled him more than getting a great buy on a nice vehicle. He also loved driving and took many people on road trips with him. He was so fun to go on road trips with and would go anywhere his wheels would take him. He seemed to love the journey more than the destination, and was always happiest on the road with family and friends. He was faithful to his family, community and church. He was invested in his community and loved to know everything that was going on. He didn’t let any information get past him. He followed the traditional Roman Catholic faith his whole life. He could be found every Sunday sitting at the back of Stella Maris Church Pictou and taking The Collection. He was a loving partner to his wife of 35 years. He enjoyed his siblings, nieces, nephews, children, stepchildren and grandchildren. He was always ready to offer his thoughts and some of his final words were kind sentiments and advice for those that surrounded him in his final hours. Eddie struggled with several illnesses these past few years but it has rarely stopped him from enjoying what he loved to do. He rarely complained and stayed strong. He will be missed by all who knew him and especially his wife, his brother Joe, family and friends. Eddie, enjoy your eternal reward. Visitation will be held at the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, Sunday January 19, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held at the Stella Maris Church Pictou, Monday January 20th at 11 A.M, reception to follow at the Stella Maris Hall. Interment will follow at a later date.
