Obituary of Allan Edward MacDonald

MacDONALD, Allan E. Pictou Allan MacDonald passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 11, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Paula (Lavoie) for 53 years, and much loved father of only daughter, Heather (Eugene) Fortune and cherished grandfather of, Alyssa and Daniel. Allan is also survived by his sister, Peggy (Donnie) Arsenault, PEI and her children, Nathan (Sherill), Andrea, her children, Maria and Sophia, Jocelyn (Christian) and William and Paul. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Lavoie and Sandra Landry and her family, Matthew, André (Jenn) and Austyn. Allan was born in Halifax, son of the late Cyril and Mary Claire (Kelly) MacDonald. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his aunt, Bernadine Kelly and brother-in-law, Paul Landry. After completing high school, he graduated from the NS teachers College in Truro and spent most of his teaching career at West Pictou School where he taught junior high math and in his retirement he sold real estate. He was a member of Stella Maris Parish, a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed golfing, curling, bowling and a ‘good game of cards’. Visitation will be held Thursday 6-8 PM at McLaren Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will take place 11 AM Friday at Stella Maris Church, followed by a reception at the Stella Maris Hall. In lieu of flowers donations in Allan’s memory may be made to the Pictou County Palliative Care Society or a charity of choice.
