Obituary of Elizabeth Olive Perry
Elizabeth Olive ‘Bette’ Perry, age 90, passed away April 26, 2018 peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, after a brief round of cancer. Bette was born April 29, 1927 in Pictou. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Jennie (Hudson) Heighton. Bette is survived by her daughter, Brenda Dexter; son-in-law, Tim; grandsons, Craig and Kirk (Evyeneia); two great-grandsons, Graham and Panos. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar ‘Ed’ Perry; brothers, Hudson ‘Huddie’ and Fergusson ‘Ferg’ Heighton. Bette was a stay at home Mom until the early 70’s, then was employed in the administration office of Eatons (Micmac Mall). Upon retiring, she and Ed were snowbirds for eleven years in Zephyrhills, Florida, also enjoying their cottage in Caribou River. Bette remained active all her life. She loved crafts, paper tole, cards, games and especially Mah Jongg. Visitation will be held 1- 2, with Funeral to follow at 2:00 PM Saturday in the McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou. Burial will be in the Seaview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the ALS Society, or... “take a friend to lunch”.
