It is with heavy hearts we share the sad news that J. Treen Garrett passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26th, 2024 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by his loving family. J.Treen Garrett was born to Gladys Marie (Treen) Garrett on November 23, 1947 in New Glasgow, NS. Treen leaves behind the Love of his life, His best friend of 57 years, Catherene (MacDonald) Garrett; their three children, Chris (Lisa) Garrett, Wolfville; Andy Garrett, New Minas; and Tracey (Greg) Wilson, Berwick; their five grandchildren, Jessica, Allie, Aaron, Max and Ryan; three great-grandchildren, Lexie, Hayley and Kip; sister, Ruth Garrett; brother, Clarke Garrett; sisters-in-law, Arlene Garrett, Deanna Hughes, Joyce McLean, Florence MacDonald; and brothers-in-law, Don McLean, John R. MacDonald; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Gladys (Treen) Garrett; brothers, Paul and Ward Garrett; his mother-in-law, Thelma (Brown) MacDonald. He dearly loved his family and always put them first. Treen was dedicated to his career with Michelin for 33 Years. He enjoyed being involved with NSGA and several other volunteer organizations. He loved golfing especially with his son, Andy, his brother, Ward and his golf buddies. He enjoyed travelling which he and Cathy often did. He was a member of the bowling league at Heather Bowling Lanes. Treen was kind, he lived large and he considered himself the luckiest man to have lived the life that he did. He was truly a remarkable man. We are so grateful to call him ours and his memory will live on forever in our hearts. Special thank you to Dr. Imran Hack and to all of the wonderful doctors and nurses in Palliative Care. A very special thank you to honorary family member Dr. Trevor Jain. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital or the charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
