MacKAY, Audrey Pictou It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Audrey MacKay on Saturday, September 28, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Born and raised in Murray River, Prince Edward Island, Audrey lived a life filled with love, warmth, and community spirit. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Martin MacKay, and together they embarked on a journey that would take them to Pictou, Nova Scotia in 1958. There, they put down roots, raised their family, and became pillars of their community. Audrey was known for her approachable nature, unpretentious charm, and infectious warmth. Her charisma drew people to her, and she cultivated a wide circle of friends throughout her life. She had a remarkable ability to stay connected with loved ones near and far, always cherishing those relationships. A devoted member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Pictou, Audrey was renowned for her baking skills and her unparalleled talent for selling baked beans for the church. Her home was always open, with freshly baked treats ready to welcome any visitor. Above all, Audrey's greatest joy was her family. Predeceased by her brother, Lloyd MacLeod; sisters, Joyce Johnston, Sadie MacLeod and Ann Soper; she is survived by her daughters, Janet (Don) Boyd and Verna Bulley (Peter Mackenzie); grandchildren, Mary Beth Robertson (Robbie), Ian Boyd (Jacqui Geday), and Myke Bulley (Elysia Percival); her brother-in-law, Dave Soper and her very special friend, Victor Smith. She is also survived by several very-much-loved nieces and nephews. Her love, guidance, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Pictou, Nova Scotia, a place that held a special place in Audrey's heart. Audrey MacKay's legacy of love, community service, and genuine kindness will continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched. She will be remembered as a loving mother, doting grandmother, loyal friend, and a true pillar of her community.
