DOUGLAS, Elva I. – 92 passed away peacefully at the Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche with her family by her side, Monday November 18, 2024. Born on August 12, 1932, in Louisville she was the daughter of the late Finley and Isabelle (Redmond) Langille. Elva was an avid horse lover from a very early age through her entire life. Participating in exhibitions and horse shows everywhere acquiring numerous ribbons and trophies. Elva was only without a horse later in life and was very excited to go and help pick out a horse for Mike and Melanie to fill the void in her heart and to have a horse in the pasture again. Married to Robert for over 65 years she worked side by side with him. From farming, working in the woods, trucking and everyday tasks, no job was out of reach for her. Elva also found time to become a very successful Avon representative and built up a large clientele and lifelong friends. She is survived by her son, Peter, his wife Jeanette, who was like a daughter to her; grandsons, Burton (Annie), Michael (Melanie); sister, Irene (Gerald) MacMillan; several nieces and nephews and a cousin, Lorne (Barb) Redmond. A large thank you to all the staff at the Willow Lodge for the great care given over the years and especially the past week before her passing. Service was over and above expectation. Doctor Bush for excellent care and compassion it was greatly appreciated from the family. She will be missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and no service by her request. Donations in Elva’s memory may be made to Willow Lodge or a charity of your choice.
